Suigetsu Hozuki (鬼灯水月, Hōzuki Suigetsu) is a recurring character in the anime and manga series Naruto. He is voiced by Takashi Kondo in the Japanese version and Grant George in the English dub.
Character Overview[]
Suigetsu was the first person to join Sasuke's personal group, Hebi (later renamed Taka). He and his older brother Mangetsu aspired to become part of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist, motivated to accomplish cruel missions by the day. Unfortunately, that was put on hold when his brother was killed and he was captured by Orochimaru to be used as a guinea pig, though due to his death, he had since then been left in a huge water tank.
Appearance[]
Suigetsu appeared as a teen around the same age as Sasuke. He had short white hair with blue hues, purple eyes and distinct shark-like teeth associated with the Mist Swordsmen. He wears a sleeveless purple shirt and gray pants with various water bottles attached to his waist area.
Personality[]
Suigetsu is a murderer at heart, described by Kisame Hoshigaki, one of the seven swordsmen as a prodigy in the act of murder with a love for killing, although he refrains from doing any murdering thanks to his fear of Sasuke. Over time however, Suigetsu has grown fond of his teammates and acknowledges them as his friends, even going so far as to save them, almost resembling Naruto to an extent.
Special Abilities[]
Due to his heritage as a part of the Hozuki clan, Suigetsu is entirely made out a metamorphic watery substance. This naturally makes him a Water Elemental user with jutsu. At any time he chooses, he can immediately assume a watery state, bypassing physical attacks with no harm done to his body. However, he is required to keep his body constantly hydrated as he keeps several water bottles around his waist to drink when he needs a refresher.
His kenjutsu is formidable, wielding the Decapitating Carving Knife, Zabuza Momochi's sword, with ease. By focusing and shifting his mass to his limbs, he is able to enlarge them and increase the speed and strength of his swings. He also has good swordsmanship perception skills, knowing what Killer Bee, a jinchuriki who is an adept swashbuckler, is capable of.
